get to know me

My name is Amanda Buchholtz, and I am a trail and ultramarathon runner based in Golden, CO. My path into the sport wasn’t linear – after playing competitive soccer in high school and taking some time away from athletics in college, running slowly became a consistent part of my life. What began with casual road miles led to marathons and eventually the demanding challenge of ultramarathons. I can’t think of a place where I’m happier than when I’m on the trails pushing myself to accomplish big goals. Over the course of my running career, I’ve run ten marathons and over forty ultramarathons, ranging from 50km to 100-mile distances. Running has become so much more than a sport to me - it has become a community and a lifestyle.

mission

Through Next Mile Running, I want to inspire athletes who never saw themselves as runners by creating a welcoming coaching space where every pace and experience level is met with encouragement, structure, and belief. My goal is to help you learn that you’re capable of more than you believe, and you can do hard things. I want this to be a space where runners surprise themselves, trust themselves, and feel supported as they take on challenges that once felt out of reach. Running has given me connection, confidence, and joy—and sharing that with others is the heart of why I coach.

why next mile?

Hiring a coach is more than just a training plan. It’s about building a relationship of trust with someone who believes in you. Coaching here means having someone in your corner week after week, and a community that understands what it takes to show up. It’s about having someone who celebrates your progress, helps you through the tough patches, and reminds you that your goals are completely within reach.
